River Twice welcomes chef Nick Tamburo of Smithereens for Christmas in July, July 24th

Nick Tamburo is the chef-owner of Smithereens, a seafood-centric restaurant in New York City’s East Village that nods to his upbringing in coastal Massachusetts. Nick cut his teeth at renowned establishments, both in New York City and abroad in Europe, including Momofuku Ko, Carlo Mirarchi’s Blanca and Kobe Desremault’s In de Wulf in Belgium. In 2021, Nick spent a year in Napa Valley to open the restaurant at The North Block Hotel in Yountville, earning a spot in the Michelin Guide for his efforts. The following year, he moved back to New York City to help open Claud as the chef de cuisine. Prior to opening Smithereens, his first independent venture, Nick was the chef in residence for a term at culinary incubator Fulgurances Laundromat in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
